William 'Ted' Manchinton, Medford Native, Truck Driver, Dies at 84

William E. “Ted” Manchinton, 84, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.

He was born in Chelsea on Feb. 25, 1929, to his parents Joseph E. and Ellen (Roach) Manchinton. Ted was raised and educated in Medford. He is a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1947. For over 25 years, he worked as a Local 25 Truck Driver for Jenney Gasoline. He also worked for the Medford Housing Authority, retiring after 10 years of service. Ted was a member of the Moose Lodge in Malden. He was an avid reader and fisherman who enjoyed spending time in Longboat Key, Fla., and York Beach, Maine.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret “Marge” (Soblinsky) Manchinton; by his children: William J. Manchinton and his wife Denise of Windham, N.H., Joanne Tansey of Medford and the late Donna Fusco and her husband Fran of Medford; by his sister, Marjorie Peterson of Palmetto, Fla.; and by his grandchildren: Robert, William, Anthony, Joseph and Mark. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service conducted in the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 2-5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
