Letter to the Editor: Seeking Photos of Ortman's

Do you have historic photographs of Albany spots? Share them here.

Albany Patch would love your 300-word letters to the editor. .

I live in Madison, WI, now but grew up in Albany. (I was a teenager in the '80s).

I lived on Merced Street and then later 978 Tulare Ave. as a teenager.

I still remember sandwiches and ice cream with my grandparents at Ortman's and near Evelyn Street.

And not to forget King Tsin's incomparable potstickers! Many more memories not necessarily related to food. Do you know if anyone has any pics of Ortman's?

The Albany Historical Society has copies of that book and is happy to sell them for $21.95

Berkeley Historical Society may have some pics. I think I've seen some in the past--they have tons of pics of that part of Berkeley around the turn of the century and up til now. Berkeley Public Library would be a good source of info on that, if you contact reference.

I haven't seen a photo of Ortman's, but I added one of McCallum's ice cream store, which used to be in Berkeley on upper Solano, to the gallery above.

I lived in the Berkeley Area in the 40's-50's (Neilson St). I remember Ortman's on the corner of Solano and Colusa. I also remember a Fosters Freeze, near Key Route Blvd.
