Over development - where are the trees?

Little by little each piece of green space is being taken over by large building complexes. While its nice to have more housing, more people means strain on the fire, police, schools.  While neighborhood schools and branch libraries are  a thing of the past, local green space, parks, small wooded undeveloped lots with trees need to be appreciated and preserved. Old school buildings should be razed and parks made. In 50 years will the brick buildings of the new complexes be dilapidated eyes sores? Yes!  If you look at  communities that plan for green space as they develop, you can see a heritage for future generations. And they take care of them.

As a child I remember a canopy of trees on our streets. But those trees have died and have not been replaced. Salem Street, Fulton Street, the Fellsway, and Medford Square are bare like a movie where the neighborhoods suffer neglect. Main street has some but they are dwindling. We allow the DCR to skip mowing the grass by the monument at Roosevelt Circle.

Its almost spring - Medford a Tree city - where is our green?  How can we prove to families looking to by houses, and businesses looking for places to locate if we look disinterested in our environment?
