Federal Agency Investigating Medford Mailman’s Death

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a federal agency in the Department of Labor, is investigating the matter, according to a Boston.com report.

Baldassarre, a 45-year-old Medford postal carrier from Haverhill, died Saturday after collapsing during a delivery on Riverside Avenue at about 5:40 p.m. Friday.

The agency was notified of his death by the U.S. Postal Service and is conducting the investigation out of its Andover office, according to Boston.com.

In response to Baldassarre’s death, the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Health and Safety has also called for OSHA to enact federal standards protecting workers from heat illnesses, according to the report.
