Medford Police Officer Arraigned on Charges Related to Stoneham Murder Investigation
The officer allegedly lied to investigators to try to conceal the drug deal that led to the double shooting.
A Medford police officer has been arraigned on charges that he lied to investigators during a Stoneham murder investigation, according to a Tuesday release from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Miguel Lopez, 53, of Stoneham, was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on two counts of witness intimidation, according to the release. Middlesex Superior Court Assistant Clerk Magistrate Matthew Day released him on personal recognizance.
He is due back in court Oct. 3 for a pre-trial conference.

Lopez was allegedly trying to cover up the drug deal that led to the July 3 double shooting at 6 Micah’s Pond Way in Stoneham.
The shooting left one man, 27-year-old Joseph Puopolo, dead and another 28-year-old man injured. The 28-year-old man, who has been released from the hospital, lives at the home at 6 Micah’s Pond Way with Lopez, according to authorities.

In connection with the crime, Jessie Williams, 24, of Medford, and Eugene Tate, 19, of Malden, have been charged with murder, armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm. Both men are being held without bail.
