Medford Returning to Odd-Side-Only Overnight Parking, Effective Immediately

Do you agree with the move?

Medford police announced Wednesday afternoon that the city is returning to odd-side-only overnight parking for roughly the next month, effective immediately.

The move changes the city’s winter parking rules back to what they had been before this year.

According to police, “This has become necessary due to the large amount of snow on the side streets which has narrowed the streets considerably. Fire apparatus, ambulances and sanders have been unable to travel on many side streets, jeopardizing public safety.”

Vehicles parked on the even-side of the street overnight will be ticketed and may be towed if police determine that the free flow of traffic is impeded.

maybe if some of the people who plow our streets were not sitting on a bar stool (and I have witnessed it) during snow storms and were out plowing we would have better results. I bet the mayors street was plowed well. grease the pockets you will see results that's how it works around here.

How are we supposed to park when the other side of the street is 5 feet high with snow? What on earth are they thinking?

It isn't safe to park on both sides of the street, so this is really a no brainer. And people do not self police in my neighborhood, they have to be told. If Someone has an emergency, they shouldn't be unreachable because Joe Renter got an apartment with no parking and has two cars. Sorry...can't dump snow in the ocean, so it stays on the street. And our DPW workers do not do it all, most is contracted out. That is why many parks are still full of leaves, but the contractors have already cashed the checks. Our DPW workers should be out there cleaning it up now though, not just waiting for it to melt.

Joe Renter can and does sign up for the email or phone notifications like everyone else. And FYI the homeowners next door from me have a large driveway *and* also park on the street *and* also save spaces for their visiting friends on the street.

Thank God they are waking up to the street situations
