Pedestrian Hit on Main St. Near Bell Rock Park

The condition and identity of the woman, who was seen crossing the street by witnesses when she was hit by a silver Honda, remains unknown

A woman regularly seen by neighbors collecting bottles and cans near a Bell Rock Park neighborhood was struck by a vehicle heading south on Main St. Monday afternoon.

The accident, which closed briefly closed traffic on the block just before 3 p.m., left a large bump on the hood of the silver Honda.

Paramedics were seen lifting the woman on a stretcher and taking her on an ambulance, with apparent care not to injure her spine.

Her identity and condition were not immediately available Monday.

If you call the City Council and the Mayor's Office just maybe you can get some support. Good Luck.

I've had better luck in Boston I guess - at least when it comes to people stopping and not inching forward to the point where we're almost hit in the crosswalk. The responsibility lies on all users of the road. In Germany, motorists and cyclists strictly followed the rules of the road and pedestrians *never* crossed without the signal to do so. I watched a fellow American saunter across a city street in Frankfurt against the light but with a clear break in traffic and the Germans I was waiting with had plenty to say to one another about the idiocy and arrogance of that person. It's simply not done. Oddly enough, there were far fewer incidents of accidents like this in general. Of course, for as frustrating and frightening as it is being a pedestrian in Malden, it's equally so as a driver. Apparently, no one knows (or cares) what sidewalks are for and feel perfectly safe walking down the road itself, especially with strollers. *facepalm*

I live a stone's throw from Bell Rock Park since 1971 and the do speed by that park often. They definatly need caution lights of some kind. Trying to cross at the park is dangerouse so I cross at Bell Rock square

I wish someone knew who is that poor Lady that got hit, I remember seeing a lovely lady who had a cart cashing in bottles at the Liquor Store on Broadway where the old CVS use to be. I feel so bad since this is the only way they can surport themselves. People who drive need to have patience, slow down, stop beeping your darn horns just because the light turns, keep your music down and STAY OFF THE PHONE!!!!!!
