Fourth Suspect Charged in Monday's Car Chase Through Medford

Police have arrested the fourth suspect in connection to a Monday night car chase that went through part of Medford and brought a state police search helicopter and police dogs to a West Somerville neighborhood.

Police arrested Patrick Farris, 21, of Charlestown Thursday, according to an email from Deputy Chief Paul Upton of the Somerville Police Department.

Upton said Farris turned himself in at Somerville District Court.

Police had previously arrested three other Charlestown residents—23-year-old Avis Medrano, 20-year-old Alexis Gonzalez and a 15-year-old male—after the suspects allegedly led police on a car chase through Somerville and Medford.

The Monday night car chase began after police received reports of shots being fired near Gilman Street in East Somerville.

After bailing from their car at Powder House Boulevard and Leonard Street, near the Powder House Rotary, police set up a perimeter in the neighborhood and began a short manhunt with help from the helicopter and K9s. The commotion caused a stir in what is normally a quiet residential neighborhood close to Davis Square.

Police found Gonzalez hiding in a garage, and they discovered Medrano and the 15-year-old suspect hiding under separate porches in the neighborhood, according to a police report.

At the time, police were not able to find the fourth suspect.
