Carroll's Approved to Stay Open Late-Night

New restaurant at 21 Main St. will be allowed to stay open to 1 a.m.

The will be allowed to stay open until 1 a.m.

The city council approved a request from the restaurant to remain open until 1 a.m. 7 days a week. The city ordinance allows businesses to stay open until 11 p.m.

The council approved the request by a 6-0-1 vote, with Frederick Dello Russo absent.

Maury Carroll, co-owner of the planned restaurant, said it will feature American-style grill food, seafood and roasted beefs. They hope to open the second week of December, he said.

The restaurant was also granted a victualler license by the city council.

The Carroll family owned a diner further South on Main Street - called Carroll's - from the 1930s until 1986.

"We think it will be something special," Carroll said last week. "We know the Square is getting rejuvenated and we’re pleased to be a piece of the puzzle."

I am writing up a brief on that right now. The short of it - they approved the request with a couple contingencies, including a review in 6 months to see how it's working.

My mother worked at the original Carroll's for years. I can't wait to take her to the new place!

Just what Medford Square needed......we need to bring the square alive. Now the square has Blue Fuji, Salvatore's and Carroll's. This will be great !
