Democrats Outnumber Republicans in Medford More than 6 to 1
When it comes to party enrollment, how does Medford compare to its neighbors?
With Democrats representing Medford in both state and U.S. houses and senates, we already know how the city likes to vote. But just how strong are Medford's loyalties to the Democratic Party?
We looked at more current voter registration numbers compiled by the Massachusetts Secretary of State in February of this year, just before the March 6 presidential primaries to find out.
According to the data, 45.3 percent of Medford's voters are registered Democrats, compared to just 7.1 percent registered Republicans. While that's greater than a 6 to 1 margin, there are more unenrolled voters than either group, comprising 47 percent of the city's registered voters.
