Medford Residents Towed During Snowstorm After Following Incorrect Police Memo

Some Medford residents were towed Saturday night after following an incorrect police memo, which told them to park on the even side of the street during the snow emergency, according to a WCVB report.

The memo from police was posted on the Medford Police Department website Saturday and didn’t come down until midnight, according to the report.

Residents that were towed received a $100 tow fee and $50 ticket.

Mayor Michael McGlynn told WCVB that for the four towed residents he’s aware of, the city will waive the tickets and look for a way to remedy the tow fees.

The city’s rule of thumb is that if December is in an odd year, such as this year, residents should park on the odd side of the street during snow emergencies, and vice versa.

Editor's note: The initial version of this post said the incorrect memo was on the city's website -- the city's website had the correct information, the Medford Police Department website had the incorrect memo.
