Susan Rice Out. John Kerry In?

Pres. Obama's candidate for Secretary of State has withdrawn her bid to be top diplomat. Does that mean Mass. Sen. John Kerry is next up for consideration?

President Obama said today that U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice had withdrawn from consideration to be the next Secretary of State, saying conservative opposition would make her candidacy too "disruptive."

With Rice out of the picture, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is seen by many to be the frontrunner to replace current top diplomat Hillary Clinton.

On Huffington Post and elsewhere, there has been speculation that the reason for such fierce opposition to Rice was to get Kerry into the Obama Administration and get back the U.S. Senate seat recently lost by Republican Sen. Scott Brown to his successful Democratic rival, Elizabeth Warren.

We asked last month about who you think should run for the Senate seat, if, in fact, Kerry is offered the Secretary of State position and takes it. What do you think now?

If what you say is true this state is even more laughable than before. Frauds, all of them. Representing their parties interests and not the people they supposedly elected to.
Carl December 14, 2012 at 06:20 PM
When they were telling everyone Brown was anti-women all I could do is laugh. How many women did the Kennedy's hurt?
Sam December 14, 2012 at 06:48 PM
The so called war on women was the most dishonest and totally fabricated piece of garbage the Democratic party has ever come with and that is really saying something.
Patty December 14, 2012 at 07:49 PM
Funny how it seems to be the men who are commenting on the war on women...
Kathleen Brothers December 14, 2012 at 08:27 PM
Here's a woman, Patty, that is saying the war on women is the biggest sham ever presented to the country. And it was swallowed hook line and sinker!
Gene Pinkham December 14, 2012 at 09:10 PM
A rich old white guy like Condoleezza Rice? BTW, Susan Rice is worth $43 million. She has significant holdings in companies doing business with Iran (in violation of UN Sanctions) and in TransCanada, the company that would be building the Keystone XL pipeline which must be approved by.......................The Secretary of State!
david mokal December 14, 2012 at 09:24 PM
I thinka mista Kerry Nica guy! He maka me laff!
david mokal December 14, 2012 at 09:26 PM
Hey he's from Malden and has Military Expierience I don't think there would be anyone any better. I dont see where he has done us harm.
Sam December 14, 2012 at 10:22 PM
Perhaps because all the woman are busy working equal pay jobs and the evil white man sits at home unemployed.
Tyler Jozefowicz December 14, 2012 at 10:23 PM
Here's a guy, Kathleen, saying that Brown folding the laundry at home once a year, is the real farce. Blunt Amendment, Equal Pay Act, birth control availability though healthcare, to name a few. The biggest sham was the Cherokee Indian farce Brown like to talk about rather than issues like Finance Reform ( him watering it down) oil subsidies, Healthcare for 32 million Americans without, job outsourcing, to name a few. no , signing autographs and marching in parades, shaking hands at Patriots games didn't do it
Tyler Jozefowicz December 14, 2012 at 10:32 PM
Disgraceful by the Republicans but not unexpected. Their obvious game: villify Susan Rice, have a love fest with Sen Kerry so Brown can run again , in a brief special election, he still has money, and a tour bus with his name on it, and a recent staff. besides this would be an off year election where the top ticket may not guarantee a DEM victory. Brown will push the "balance" stuff, when whenever there is an important vote he swings to the right. McCain kept his mouth shut when Bush, Rice and Cheney lied about WMDs. Front page of the Herald today, guess who they are pushing so their boy Brown ( who lost by 8 points ) can try to con us again.
Sarah December 15, 2012 at 02:12 AM
I like Brown. What has Warren ever done but lie and make millions off foreclosed homes and being a part time professor? And please spare us with her battling big banks, that was an appointed position by Obozo.

President Barack Obama has chosen U.S. Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts to be the next Secretary of State, a source has told Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed: http://www.suntimes.com/17019560-761/source-obama-has-chosen-john-kerry-as-secretary-of-state.html
Diana December 15, 2012 at 02:36 AM
Scott Brown didn't represent me, and clearly the majority of Massachusetts citizens agreed. You're free to leave, pick up some Preparation H on your way out.

From a Vietnam Vet. What a disgrace this is to this country to make that phoney anything !!!
Diana December 15, 2012 at 02:39 AM
Patty, never doubt that the nice men who tell you to sit down and shut up only have your best interests at heart. ;)
Diana December 15, 2012 at 02:40 AM
What, I'm supposed to accept that among 50% of the population there are no stupid people?
Joe Veno December 15, 2012 at 02:47 AM
Carl I have no idea how many they hurt but do you rember this? The Chappaquiddick incident took place on July 18, 1969 and refers to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, a female passenger of U.S. Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy when he accidentally drove his car off a bridge and into a tidal channel on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts. Kennedy swam free and left the scene, not reporting within nine hours, but Kopechne died in the vehicle. In the early hours of July 19, Kopechne's body and the car were recovered. Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury and received a two-month suspended jail sentence. The incident became a national scandal, and may have influenced Kennedy's decision not to campaign for President of the United States in 1972 and 1976.

Call John Kerry and tell him to get to work and get John Hammar Jr released from a Mexican Jail. If he tells you he's not one of Mr Kerry's constituents, tell Mr Kerry to grow a spine and get this Marine out of that Mexican Hell Hole. finally, a way to get this slacker out of the Senate, hopefully we'll get someone who actually works for the people in the Commonwealth, not for his party and career. Kerry is a fraud, has always been. His Vietnam lies were and are disgraceful, but few ever want to call him out on it. The whole charade of him tossing his medals away and yakking about atrocities that never happened was calculated to launch his career. He is not a "stand up guy" by any stretch, let him to to State he probably can't do much harm there, and he'll finally be gone in 4 years.

As a 5 year participant in combat in French Indochina, I have vivid memories of Senator Kerry's statements circa 1971-1972 like "Mr. Kerry, you said at one time or another that you think our policies in Vietnam are tantamount to genocide and ..... Do you consider that you personally as a Naval officer committed atrocities in Vietnam or crimes punishable by law in this country?" -- Crosby Noyes, Washington Evening Star There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this is ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, ... are war criminals. -- John Kerry, on NBC's "Meet the Press" April 18, 1971 IMHO Mr Kerry is a traitor and should not be nominated for the position of Secretary of State.
quasimodo December 22, 2012 at 02:36 AM
Mr Kerry is certainly not a traitor as he was speaking the TRUTH. As an American, a citizen of a free country, he was guarantied freedom speech by the very government he was serving. Mr. Kerry should have and did revealed some on the truths about the US atrocities in Viet Nam. So, why a traitor?
Joe Veno December 22, 2012 at 02:39 AM
quasimodo were you in Vietnam during the war?
Dave Gray December 22, 2012 at 02:58 AM
Here we go again. If he wasn't there, does that mean he has no right to his opinion?
Martin Luther December 22, 2012 at 04:35 AM
Quasimodo wake up, John Kerry lied. He wrote himself up for and was awarded a Silver Star for shooting a fleeing wounded VC teenager in the back. He wrote himself up for a was awarded 3 Purple Hearts for fictitious wounds. The truth Quasimodo will not be found in the neighborhoods that you frequent.

You are correct Dave Gray, If you were not sweating and bleeding during the second French Indochina War, you do not have the right to an opinion.
Dave Gray January 13, 2013 at 01:31 AM
I beg to differ. My APO in 1967-68 was 96227, and that qualifies me to say he has a right to his opinion. How about you? What's your qualification?
Martin Luther January 16, 2013 at 09:56 PM
96227 was the APO for Bien Hoa, fat duty for REMFS. My qualifications are 5 year participant in combat in French Indochina, I have vivid memories of Senator Kerry's statements circa 1971-1972 in which I had the pleasure to send many VCs, NVAs, Pathet Lao, Khmer Communist and some Ruskies, Checks, Chinks to the Big Happy Hunting Ground. My main function was patrolling the Ho Chi Minh trail from the Fishes mouth, Tchepone, Catcher's Mitt down to Rom Long, Parrot;s Beak, An Loc and Loc Ninh with some excursions to Khe Sanh and Quantri.
