Homes Sales Drop in Medford, But Still Outpace Last Year

Home sales dropped in September compared to the same month last year, but year-to-date sales in the city still outpace the same time frame in 2011, according to recently released data.

There were 21 home sales in Medford in September compared to 38 in September 2011, according to data from real estate publisher The Warren Group.

Year-to-date sales are up 25 percent from last year, jumping from 197 to 247, according to the data. The median price of home sales is also up; the average sale price in September 2011 in Medford was $326,375 compared to $381,000 last month, according to the data.

Statewide, a total of 3,791 homes sold in Massachusetts last month, according to the data. That's up from 3,507 in September 2011.
