Scales Tipped Towards Massachusetts Democrats

Massachusetts has been under one party rule by the Democrats for decades.  Sure, we've had a few Republican Governor's such as Weld, Cellucci, Swift and Romney, but the State House and State Senate have been solidly Democrat for well over 30 years.  Currently, we have only 4 Republican State Senators.  With any luck, that will change tomorrow, April 1st, when Monica Medeiros is elected to the MA State Senate from the 5th Middlesex District.  Republicans "hope" this represents a "change" going into the mid term election cycle of 2014.

In 2010 when most Americans voted in a new Republican Majority in the U.S. House of Congress, Massachusetts sent every single Democrat back to the House.  While the MASS GOP did have some success that year in the State House by more than doubling their numbers, the State Senate wasn't so fortunate.  Has anyone actually sat down and crunched the numbers to find out why this is so?  After all, with higher taxes, more rules, more regulations, less employment, and many people and companies moving out of the Bay State it would seem it doesn't make sense at all that incumbent Democrats hold on to their seats on Beacon Hill like they were appointed there for life.

Add to all of that the general frustration more folks are having with policies from Washington D.C. Democrats such as failures of Obamacare with people losing their health insurance or paying higher rates, the IRS targeting political opposition groups to the DNC and the NSA invading privacies and it only creates more confusion as to why the DNC of Massachusetts has been so successful.  So successful, in fact, that recently voted out of the MA State House for being convicted of beating his girlfriend, Carlos Henriquez, vowed he will run for the State House again this year and you know what?  He'll probably win, too.

In my humble opinon, there are three major reasons for this anomaly.

1) Campaign donations.  All unions can give, per State Law, up to $15,000 per election year.  When public unions, who make their pay rates and benefits packages off of tax payer dollars it's no wonder where all, or most, of their donations go.  You got it, the tax and spend Democrat Party of Massachusetts.  I am NOT "union bashing" at all.  I have many friends and relatives who are union workers.  These are decent and honest people who want to provide for their families.  I am citing union leadership who sends their donations to the DNC candidates.  Individuals and political action committees are limited to $500 per year while no businesses at all, small or large, can directly donate any money at all to any candidate.  True, some business groups can do other things like run ads for candidates so long as the candidate has no first hand knowledge or participation, the reality is that most down ticket candidates for the MASS GOP are in it on a shoe string budget while incumbent Democrat State House and State Senate Rep's can make 3 quick phone calls to the Teamsters, or the MTA, or a DPW union and quickly fatten their coffers in less time it takes to have lunch.  As we all know, money is the mothers milk for a political campaign.

2) The Media.  When now Secretary of State John Kerry ran for the U.S. Senate in the last decade he had a debate with his Republican challenger on the former Talk 1200 radio station at about 12 noon, or 1 p.m. during one of the days of the race.  I was at work and couldn't listen to the debate.  After work I rushed home and put on WCVB 5:30 news and they had a report on this debate.  Mr. Kerry came out of the Talk 1200 studio and was asked a question by WCVB and was allowed to answer for almost 2 full minutes, or more.  When the Republican challenger came out of the studio he was asked this question: "How do you think you're going to beat Kerry with all of his money?"  He began to answer and only got the first word out, "Easy...." then the T.V. cut from the location back to the studio where Ed Harding said, "Well, it won't be easy "easy" because you will have to.." and then Mr. Harding went down a list of reasons why it wouldn't be easy for the Republican challenger and we never heard his answer at all.  I was appalled.  I immediately sent an email to the manager of ABC news at WCVB and asked if Ed Harding was running for the U.S. Senate because I wanted to hear the GOP candidate's response.  The manger actually replied to my email and said, "Thanks for your input.  We'll look into it."  Since then, ABC has hired George Stephanopolous from the Bill Clinton Administration.  Enough said about that.  Add to that the Boston Globe and how obviously slanted to the Democrat Party they are and you have part 2 of the Democrat Machine in Massachusetts politics.

3) Public Unions.  As I said above, the public unions can contribute up to $15,000 while individuals and political action committees are limited to $500 per year I have to further note that the public unions also act as a kind of forced "volunteer" labor pool of sign holders, phone bankers, and hosts of meet and greets for the Democrat candidates.  Republican volunteers are true grass roots who don't benefit directly from one of their candidates winning as do the public union workers who get jobs, benefits, and our tax payer dollars.  Again, this is NOT "union bashing" but merely citing of the factual reality of how Massachusetts politicking works for the DNC.  It's a nice little cycle of special interests.

Add all of that to Democrats calling Republicans "wagers of war on women" because many in the GOP are for the freedom of religions who don't believe in distributing birth control pills or devices.

Another smear tactic regularly used by the DNC is that Republicans "want to throw your grandparents over a cliff" simply because spending, taxing, and borrowing has put our nation at $17.5 TRILLION in debt, and our state is 3rd highest in debt, and the GOP is calling for cuts across the board to keep our nation, states and towns solvent so we don't go bankrupt whereby everyone suffers.  Not just our seniors who the GOP supports wholeheartedly because guess what?  Republicans have grandparents, too.

And an even bigger insulting lie is the old standby line by the DNC in so much as "Republicans are racists."  On this point let me be exact, clear and direct with you, dear reader, that nothing could be further from the truth.  The first black Americans elected to any office in the USA post Civil War were all Republicans.  Jim Crow was a Democrat.  The first legislation for Civil Rights was written and sponsored by Republicans then blocked in the Senate by Lyndon B. Johnson.  Johnson later took credit for it in 1964 and he said, after signing it, "Now these n***ers will vote for us for the next 200 years."  I urge you all to not take my word for it but do your own research.  This link (don't let the title fool you) has an in depth chronology of listed facts detailing Democrat racism in the USA from before the Civil War to this very minute:

When you look at the reality of Massachusetts politics in the three reasons I numbered above, added to the false smears, twists, and manipulations of the GOP, now you know why Massachusetts has long suffered one party Democrat rule.  It's time we balance power on Beacon Hill.  Tomorrow, I urge the 5th Middlesex District to vote for Monica Medeiros, Republican, for MA State Senate.  And on November 4th, 2014, let's end one party rule and bring a balance of power to Beacon Hill because power in balance, is power held in check and then you get what you're supposed to receive from elected "officials."  You receive true public servants.
