Kids can learn their way around the kitchen during the Summer Harvest Cooking Workshops.
The Columbus School Garden Club will present two free workshops in August 7, 2013
On Aug. 14, find out how to make herbal oils and vinegar using a mortar and pestle to crush the herbs. Bring a clean jar if you have one.
Salsa is the topic on Aug. 28. Create a tasty salsa with tomatoes, peppers, onions and cilantro harvested from the school garden, then grab a tortilla chip and give it a try.
The workshops are open to children of all ages, but kids under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
The events run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Columbus School Vegetable Garden, 37 Hicks Ave. in Medford. The workshops will be cancelled in the event of rain.
