The new headmaster, Dr. Perella is terrible. He limited the number of AP classes the students were allowed to take this year. When parents complained on parent night, he told us it was for the good of the children and that it would be less stressful for them. He changed the entire scheduling system and kids that didn't fit into his algorithm were left with not enough credits to graduate. Only after the mayor, superintendent, school committee and city council became involved did these students suddenly have "classes." They were created and are more like clubs. Many seniors have been instructed to come in around noon because they don't have "real" classes and can't be loitering in the building. Dr. Perella killed the ranking and he is running around without oversight despite his glaring missteps...and those are just the problems this year (last year Dr. Krueger did the scheduling before he retired so he couldn't ruin that). And the money the school got for new computers put a new computer on every TEACHER's desk and they are getting iPads. Someone is also being hired to teach them to use them. The students got NOTHING from that technology money they spent.

So, what are we going to do about it?
Isabelle April 26, 2014 at 11:21 AM
@Cheryl, I agree! I also hear some teachers are using those ipads to record the children in the classrooms. Don’t they need permission to do that? Why are they doing that and where are those videos going? Is that what we paid all that money for? Something is really wrong!

Under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment WRITTEN PARENTAL CONSENT is Needed. Common Core is unconstitutional!

Massachusetts wiretapping law is a “two party consent” law. This law also applies to video recording when sound is captured. Though I’m not sure which is more criminal, illegally recording our children or keeping them from school by not providing them with classes to attend during the school day?
