VIDEO: MHS Students Recognized For Band, Art, Writing

Honors took place at the last School Committee meeting Feb. 4.

Medford High School students were recognized in three different areas at the Medford School Committee meeting Feb. 4.

Students who received honors were members of the school's band as well as recent winners of Boston Globe Show Scholastic Achievement Awards in writing and arts.

For the band, their accomplishments were summarized by advisor Haley Horgan. In the fall the band participated in three New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) competitions. The finished in first place in Wakefield, second place in Reading and took home a silver medal in NESBA finals in Lawrence.

Horgan said the band played at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston this year for a pep rally, participated in the Fitchburg Invitational with other local bands and marched on the field at Gillette Stadium for UMass Band Day among other honors.
