Arlington Catholic Girls’ Basketball Wins State Championship

The Cougars' girls' hockey team was state runner-up.

The Arlington Catholic girls’ basketball team defeated West champ Longmeadow 43-35 in overtime Saturday at the DCU Center in Worcester to take the Division 2 state title, according to Boston.com.

Three Cougars players scored in double figures: Maura Buckley, 12, Emma Lutz and Demi Fogarty, 10.

The Arlington Catholic girls’ hockey team made the Division 1 state final Sunday but lost to Duxbury, the three-time defending Division 2 champ, 2-1 at TD Garden.

The Cougars also were state runner-up last season. They won the title in 2012.
