Former Mustangs Standout Named New Medford High Boys’ Basketball Coach

A familiar face will be leading the team this winter.

David White, a former Mustangs standout and the head assistant coach for the last four years, has been named as the new Medford High boys’ basketball coach, according to a recent district release.

White replaces Anthony Faradie, the 31-year-old coach who recently jumped to Methuen in the Merrimack Valley Conference after resurrecting the Medford program over the last six years. Faradie will continue to teach at Medford High, according to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune.

White has been with the Medford program for 10 years – he was JV and freshmen coach prior to being named head assistant. White, a 1999 Medford High graduate, was the basketball’s team captain and amassed a three-year varsity record of 63-7 in his playing days, including a berth in the state tournament at the TD Garden. He went on to play for Springfield College.

Medford High Athletic Director Robert Maloney released the following statement, “It’s a great day for Medford High School athletics when you can hire a former MHS standout student athlete who has worked his way up the ladder to become the face of the program. David is constantly giving back to the youth of Medford and is the product of the great White family.

“Medford High School would like to thank Coach Faradie for his tremendous hard work in putting MHS basketball back on the map. We wish him the best of luck in his new position at Methuen High School.”
