St. Clement Boys' Basketball Wins First Ever State Title

The Anchormen beat Quaboag Friday night at Holy Cross.

The St. Clement boys’ basketball team defeated West champ Quaboag 45-42 Friday night at Holy Cross to claim the Division 4 state championship, the team’s first in the school’s 89-year history, according to ESPN Boston.

Up 45-42, St. Clement survived three Quaboag missed threes to seal the victory, with 6-foot-8 junior center Eamonn Joyce grabbing the defensive rebound on the final attempt.

Joyce led the Anchormen with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

St. Clement went 19-1 during the regular season and then rattled off five playoffs wins to take the title.
