Local Salons to Participate in Children's Hospital Fundraiser Sunday

Three local salons will be among 70 in New England participating.

Three Medford hair salons are participating in a fundraiser this weekend for the Boston Children's Hospital.

, and James Joseph Studio will each give cuts and stylings Sunday in exchange for a $40 donation to the Children's hospital.

Nancy Campobasso, owner of Nancy's Family Salon, has a son who was born prematurely, and even though he was cared for at Mass General, she understands the work hostpials do for young children and how much they need help, she said.

"Anything to support what the hospitals do, I'm up for it," she said. "I think they do a tremendous job."

A total of 70 salons in New England will participate in the annual fundraiser called "HAIRraising."

Organizers aim to raise at least $100,000 this year, a press release said.

“This has become a great program,” said Janet Gilfeather, Children's Hospital Trust spokeswoman in a written statement. “The first year was getting all the salons on board. It was great to see the big support from big names on Newbury Street and the interest spread out into the suburbs."
