Will Medford Get Snow From this Storm?

A long-duration storm is knocking on the city's door, but most local meteorologists expect little snow in Boston.

Medford's in for some wet weather Wednesday through Friday, according to local forecasts, but don't get out your snow shovels yet. For Boston, the local weather teams aren't predicting very much snow. Instead, expect a lot of rain and maybe some heavy slushy snow in spots. While areas inland may get a half a foot of snow, Boston's bigger concern is the three high tides during this storm. Flooding may become an issue along the immediate coast. Here are the latest forecasts from the local television news weather teams. All totals were updated Wednesday morning. WHDH (7 News): All rain WLVI (NewsCenter 5): 1-2 inches along the coast, six inches or more inland WBZ (CBS Local): 2-4 inches WFXT (MyFox Boston): 1-3 inches NECN: 1-3 inches

How Would You Rate Medford’s Plowing During the Blizzard of 2013?

Are you satisfied or frustrated with how the town handled the area’s 5th largest snowstorm in history? Let us know by posting a comment below.

Now that the snow has fallen, and started to melt, it’s your time to rate how the town’s plows handled the more than 2 feet of snow that fell Friday and Saturday. Medford Patch's Facebook page has lit up since last Saturday with readers who were mostly dissatisfied with plowing in Medford, but we want to open this up to people with opinions any which way. Feel free to give praise or thanks, express frustrations or offer up constructive criticism in the comments below, and keep in mind, the blizzard was the 5th largest snowstorm in New England history. Share Your Photos: How Much Snow Do You Have?

Let's measure the blizzard through lawn ornaments!

We at Patch like to have fun – even when we’re covering a story as big as the Blizzard of ’13! So when the biggest storm in years (potentially in the history of Boston weather) is headed our way, we get into battle mode – and even get a little silly. That’s what this idea is about – and we want you to take part too! A fun way we want to track the storm across Massachusetts is through lawn ornaments. They serve a purpose in the spring and summer, but often feel left out in the cold of winter. Not anymore. We are posting photos of lawn ornaments throughout Massachusetts to highlight snowfall across the commonwealth during and after the storm. All you need to do is hit the Upload Photos and Videos button and upload your own. If we’re stuck at…

It seems that this overreaction by the government and the media has the same effect as political correctness. That is to say it makes us numb to words like "racist" and "dangerous conditions".....so that when we really need to be aware of those problems....we don't hear the warning or care.   more ›

Share Your Blizzard of ’78 Memories

One of the biggest snowstorms to ever hit the region happened 35 years ago today.

It has been 35 years since the legendary "Blizzard of '78," one of the biggest and most memorable snowstorms to ever hit Massachusetts. On Feb. 6, 1978, the area was hit with a record 27 inches of snow with the added bonus of hurricane force winds. The storm began the morning of Feb. 6 and lasted through the following evening. The snow came down so fast that thousands of motorists were stranded in snowdrifts as they drove down Rte. 128.  When we asked for your memories last year, here is what Medford Patch reader Anne Gelineau Powers wrote: I remember well going to the First National to get milk and bread - while it lasted. I also remember walking to Medford Savings Bank (where I worked) on High St. to get the bank open - 3 days after the …
