Medford High School students were recognized in three different areas at the Medford School Committee meeting Feb. 4. Students who received honors were members of the school's band as well as recent winners of Boston Globe Show Scholastic Achievement Awards in writing and arts. More information on the Scholastic Achievement Awards, including a full list of winners, is available here. For the band, their accomplishments were summarized by advisor Haley Horgan. In the fall the band participated in three New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) competitions. Several Medford High School students were recently announced as recipients of Boston Globe Show Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, according to a release on the school department's website. More from the school department: The Boston Globe Show is the state branch of the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. This year, public, parochial, and private school throughout Massachusetts submitted thousands of individual pieces of art in media ranging from traditional drawing and painting to digital arts and experimental sculpture.
