Marathoner to Help Brooks School Celebrate Walking Challenge

Students have been keeping track of their steps for the last month.

The following was submitted by Susan Altman on behalf of the Medford Green Streets Initiative: All fourth and fifth grade classes at the Brooks Elementary School have taken their first big steps to improve their fitness by participating in the month-long Brooks Walking Challenge. They will celebrate their results this Friday morning, May 25,  at the start of the school day. Lindsay Willard, a Medford resident who was the fifth American woman to cross the finish line at this year’s Boston Maraton and took 17th place among women overall, will join the students to celebrate their achievements. Willard, age 33, crossed the finish line with a time of 2 hours, 55 minutes and 53 seconds, according to results from the Marathon's website. The time …

Event Spotlight: Third Annual Holiday Shopping Night

Nov. 10 at the Brooks Elementary School on 288 High St., 5 p.m. come on down for a holiday shopping bonanza!

[Editor's note: Information issued by the Brooks Elementary School] The Brooks Elementary School is hosting its Third Annual Shopping Night on Thursday, November 10, 2011, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Want to get ahead of your holiday shopping? Head over to the Brooks School in West Medford for a holiday shopping extravaganza! Last year’s event featured over 50 vendors—this year promises to be just as terrific.  The evening will offer: A portion of the proceeds will benefit Brooks Elementary School initiatives.
