Malden Police Lt. Det. Marc Gatcomb said one of two victims was killed on the scene during a horrific car crash on Medford Street in Malden near the Medford-Malden line last night, with another transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident took place at the intersection of Medford and John Streets in Malden, steps away from the Medford intersection of Central Avenue and the Fellsway. Medical responders reportedly found a "severely burned" female victim after a motor vehicle accident on Medford Street in Malden near the Malden-Medford line early Tuesday morning, though no further word on her condition was immediately available. A man crashed a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero into Lower Mystic Lake at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Massachusetts State Police. The crash took place near the intersection of Mystic Valley Parkway and Sagamore Avenue. The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was unharmed. He was able to exit the SUV before it submerged, roughly 30 feet from shore, police said. A State police dive team assisted two tow trucks in pulling the vehicle from the water. The vehicle was out of the water at about 4 p.m. There were skid marks at the scene near Sagamore Avenue.
