Three Face Cocaine Charges After Jerome St. Raid

One of the arrested, John Viera, was a victim in a shooting that killed his son in 2011.

Three people were charged with cocaine-related offenses in Tuesday morning's raid at 55 Jerome St. in Medford. One of those arrested was John Viera, 62, of that address, who was a victim in the Feb. 2011 shooting at the residence that killed his son, John Hatch, 36. Medford Police Capt. Kevin Faller could not provide details on any possible links between the two cases, referring those questions to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. One person, Gerald Sullivan of Charlestown, was charged in the summer of 2011 in connection with the shooting. Viera was charged with a single count of possession to distrbute cocaine. One Arrested on Jerome St. Drug Warrant

Police say search warrant still ongoing.

UPDATE, 11 a.m.: Medford Police Capt. Kevin Faller told Patch one suspect has been arrested as a result of the warrant served at 55 Jerome St. Tuesday. Faller could not identify the suspect. He said the search warrant was still being executed as of just before 11 a.m. and charges were not yet specified. "This is still ongoing," Faller said.  Medford Police conducted the investigation that led to the warrant and Faller said the NEMLEC SWAT team was brought to assist in serving it. There are two separate residences at 55 Jerome St. and Faller said there are warrants to search each. Medford Man Arrested on Heroin Charges After Stakeout in Somerville

At one point, alleged heroin suppliers parked right in front of an undercover investigator, according to a police report.

Somerville Police arrested three people including a Medford man after staking out a home in the Ten Hills neighborhood. The home was under investigation for allegedly being tied to heroin distribution, according to police reports. The reports do not identify the address of the "target residence," which is in the same neighborhood Somerville's mayor calls home, but they describe the scene on Dec. 7 when undercover officers put the residence under surveillance. According to one report, undercover investigators were observing the home at about 2:10 p.m., having learned heroin suppliers were supposed to stop by that afternoon.
