Fire Log: Suspicious Solvent Found at Meadow Glen Mall and Building Fire

The Medford fire log, March 9-15, 2011.

This Thursday had the Medford Fire Department dealing with a haz-mat condition of a suspicious solvent product inside a FedEx truck at the Meadow Glen Mall. On Friday, there was an early morning two-alarm building fire on 225 Fores St., when firefighters thought an elderly woman and child were trapped in a burning attic. The firefighters breached the attic and found all was secure. Four firefighters were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation; all made a full recovery. Fire Log: Winthrop Street Problems and Ice Rescue

Winthrop Street had its fair share of accidents and reports in the past few days. Vehicle accidents, a cooking fire, smoke calls, a fire alarm and an animal problem. There was also an ice rescue at Wright Pond.
