Medford Home Sales Jump Up in November

The city saw a 36 percent year-over-year increase in single-family home sales, almost matching the statewide average, which was the largest year-over-year percentage increase this year.

Medford and Massachusetts as a whole saw a big year-over-year increase in home sales in November, which marked the largest year-over-year increase in 2012, according to the latest figures from The Warren Group. In Medford, 30 single-family homes were sold, a 36 percent increase over the 22 sold in November 2011. Statewide home sales in November were up 38 percent from a year ago and The Warren Group that it was the best November for sales since 2005. Mass. 2nd Highest Priced Housing Market, Medford on Lower End for Bay State

Medford sits in the lower end on Coldwell Banker's list of housing prices in the state, but housing prices remain high nationally.

Medford's housing prices may not be the top in the area, but Massachusetts has some of the highest prices in America. In this year's recently released edition of Coldwell Banker's national Home Listing Report, the typical four bedroom, two bath home in the Medford is $423,170, which ranks the town the 68th out of 116 cities and towns on the list. The Bay State, however, ranks the second highest in the country, with an average listing price of $489,063—behind only Hawaii's $742,551 but ahead of California's $431,625. The study looked at 2,479 communities around the country. The average listing price for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home in the US was $292,152.
