On the Agenda: Discussion on Water/Sewer Fund
State recently relieved Medford of having to pay back $1.2 million, but one councilor wants an explanation.
The Medford City Council will discuss the recent announcement regarding the state relieving Medford of a $1.2 million debt taken from the city's Water and Sewer surplus in 2011. The council will be meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Howard F. Alden Auditorium at Medford City Hall. Here is their agenda. Councilor Robert Penta is asking for "a clearer explanation" as to why the city will not have to repay the money. The money was used "to save approximately 20 jobs and secure city services" during fiscal year 2012, according to Mayor Michael McGlynn.

Odd for the councilor to want an explanation since he was the one who inrtoduced the resolution to ask the State to forgive paying back that money. He's also brought up several times since then, the question as to why the State hadn't got back to the City with their answer.
