An Ashcroft Road man was arrested early Saturday morning on nearby Westvale Road on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor, according to police. Stephen Whalen, 56, of 138 Ashcroft Road was arrested about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, according to police. It is the first time he has been charged with operating under the influence. A Melrose teen faces a charge of assault to murder after allegedly stabbing a man in a fight in Medford Square. Derik DeAngelo, 19, and another man were allegedly in a fist fight about 9:30 p.m. Friday near 35 Riverside Ave. when DeAngelo pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. He is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault to murder. Further information on the incident was not immediately available Monday. A woman being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of liquor kicked out the window on a State Police cruiser on Thursday morning.
A Medford woman allegedly kicked out the back window of a State Police cruiser in Danvers early Thursday morning after being arrested for driving under the influence of liquor. The incident happened at 1:38 a.m. on Route 1 northbound at Centre Street. A State Trooper assigned to the Danvers barracks stopped a vehicle at the Centre Street overpass and later arrested the driver, Katie Weismann, 26, of Medford. She was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, assault and battery on a police officer, malicious destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest and marked lanes violation.
