Mayor: New Housing Projects Coming in Medford

Former sites of Sentry auto dealership, GE plant will become new housing developments, according to Mayor Michael McGlynn.

In his "State of the City" address last week, Medford Mayor Michael J. McGlynn touted two new housing development projects coming down the pike for the city. McGlynn discussed the plans of Criterion Development to build a 163-unit premium apartment complex on the site of the former Sentry auto dealership on Mystic Valley Parkway. McGlynn said the Criterion purchased the site "recognizing the superb location and amenities of Wellington Station."  According to McGlynn, Criterion plans to break ground on the site next month.  "This project will expand our economic base, create 16 affordable housing units, generate $341,000 in building permit fees, $573,000 in linkage fees and generate additional tax revenue," McGlynn said. Mayor: City Hall Has Cut Emissions 30 Percent

See what other "green" accomplishments McGlynn mentioned in his speech last week.

During his "State of the City" address last week, Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn touted the city's environmental accomplishments, including a big one for Medford City Hall. McGlynn said the city set an "ambitious" goal in 2010 to cut green house gas emissions by 20 percent by the end of 2015. It did not take long to surpass the goal. "We are please to announce this evening we have surpassed this and already reduced emissions by 30 percent at the end of 2012," McGlynn said. Medford's Diversity Highlighted in Mayoral Address

Wide-ranging speech delivered by McGlynn was the first of its kind for the mayor since 2001.

Medford Mayor Michael J. McGlynn's first "State of the City" address in 12 years highlighted the city's diversity in a wide-ranging speech delivered to a packed Howard F. Alden Auditorium at City Hall Wednesday night. McGlynn, the longest-serving mayor in Massachusetts, introduced several distinguished guests of varied backgrounds before delivering his remarks. "The state of our city is vibrant, with a solid foundation built on the diversity of its people," McGlynn said. "They're challenged in their desire to work in harmony to build a better community." Folks, March 6.2013 is right around the corner. When Mc Glynn makes his speech. The 1st thing is he wants around 30 Million $$$$$$$$. For the Police station and the DPW and Fir station.
