New Stop & Shop Opens in Medford [VIDEO]

Ribbon cutting ceremony held Friday morning.

Officials from both the City of Medford and Stop & Shop gathered Friday morning to celebrate the opening of the new Stop & Shop supermarket at 471 Salem St., which housed Johnnie's Foodmaster until its closure in November. Store Manager Rich Nolan said the store has many of the same amenities, including a full perishable department, that a Stop & Shop superstore would have. "This was an established footprint and we put the new format in here," Nolan said. "They did it in a relatively, remarkably fast time." City Councilors Fred Dello Russo and Rick Caraviello as well as State Rep. Paul Donato were attendance at the grand opening ceremony. Regular store hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
