2012 Veterans Day Free Meals, Discounts

Local businesses salute our service men and women with special deals year-round as well as on Veterans Day.

A number of local businesses are saluting veterans, military service men and women, and their families this Veterans Day by offering local discounts, specials and promotions. Here's a quick guide to many of these great deals to be found on Veterans Day throughout the Winchester area: For military service men and women only: THE DISH: more Secret Discounts! Remember, the whole point of Veterans Day is to thank and remember our troops and November is Military Family Month. Thank you to our troops and their families for your service, and thanks to all of the local businesses for supporting our troops and their families!

Vets Visit Medford High School

Popular program returned this year.

The following was provided by Allison Goldsberry on behalf of Medford Public Schools: About two dozen Medford veterans visited Medford High School on Thursday as part of a special program organized by the Medford Office of Veterans Services and the Social Studies Department to recognize Veterans Day. Veterans from several wars, from World War II to Operation Iraqi Freedom, visited classrooms to share their stories with students.  The program has grown popular with students and teachers and has become a tradition each year.

Event Spotlight: Brides Across America Coming This Veterans Day

The second annual "Brides Across America" promotion is coming to Medford.

The Bride 'n' Belle Boutique on 141 Main Street will be offer a special promotion for military brides throughout Medford and the surrounding area. The special promotion gives free wedding gowns to any currently deployed bride or bride to be! If you know a deployed bride or bride to be, spread the word and help them save on a new wedding dress! The event will be held on Veteran's Day, Friday, November 11 during the stores normal 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. business hours. Please visit Bridesacrossamerica.com or the store's website at bridenbelle.com  for more information. Last year, over forty brides went home happy with a beautiful gown of their choice. We are the only salon participating in Massachusetts, so we are expecting a huge turnout.
