Johnnie's Foodmaster in Medford to Close: A week after Johnnie's Foodmaster officially announced that its store on Beacon Street would become a Whole Foods, Boston.com has reported the Chelsea-based supermarket chain is closing all its locations, including the one in Medford. Boston.com says an Illinois-based company, Hilco Merchant Resources, which specializes in liquidation services, has begun closing sales at all of the Johnnie's Foodmaster markets. Week in Review: Dalai Lama in Medford, Earthquake!

Dalai Lama Visits Medford: On a normal day, if you walk along the triple deckers lining Washington Street and Magoun Avenue not much will stand out from any other Medford neighborhood. Tuesday was no normal day. There were decorated dancers in the street, a market set up on Washington Street and a giant white tent stretched across four backyards. All for a visit from the Dalai Lama. The Kurukulla Tibetan Buddhist center is nestled in among Magoun Avenue homes and it played host to the leader of Tibetan Buddhism. The tent -- which housed 1,800 people, according to event organizers -- was set up in the Center's backyard along with those of three neighbors, who agreed to have fences temporarily taken down to accommodate the event. Week in Review: Dalai Lama Coming to Medford, Bus Driver Does Good Deed

Medford Buddhist Center Preps for Dalai Lama: If you're around Washington Street in Medford you'll see an unusual site. A large tent is being erected in open space between homes on Washington and Magoun Avenue, big enough to hold a crowd of 1,800. The occasion? A visit from the Dalai Lama. The Kurukulla Buddhist Center, located on Magoun Avenue, is hosting the exiled leader of Tibetan Buddism on Oct. 16 in a ticketed event. It will be the second time the Dalai Lama has visited Medford. Two Medford Intersections Among State's Top Crash Sites: The intersection of Route 16 and Winthrop Street, as well as Main Street and Salem Street in Medford Square rank among the top 200 high crash sites in the state, according to the Massachusetts …
