PRODUCT RECALL: Whole Foods Market Salmon

The product may contain Listeria Monocytogenes.

Whole Foods Market, which has a location in Medford on Mystic Valley Parkway, is recalling one lot of its Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon because it may contain Listeria Monocytogenes. The organism may “cause a sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” according to the FDA. The 4-ounce salmon packages are either cold smoked or sliced and were sold in 12 states, including Massachusetts and Rhode Island. According to the FDA: The recalled salmon is sold…
