Brian Williams on 'Hooting and Hollering' Debate Audiences, Mitt Romney and More

The NBC news anchor spoke Monday at Tufts University's Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism.

In the age of Super PACs, the roll of the media as "watch dog" over political advertising will become even more important, Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, told an audience at Tufts University Monday. Williams, speaking at the Seventh Annual Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism, also talked about the upcoming presidential election, the state of network news, his reputation as a funny guy and his daughter, Allison Williams, who's making a name for herself as an actress on HBO and elsewhere. Last Chance: 'Father of Microcredit' to Speak at Tufts Friday, NBC's Brian Williams Next Week

Tufts University will host two significant speakers in coming days, first economist Muhammad Yunus on Friday, then NBC News Anchor Brian Williams on Monday. Both lectures are free and open to the public; tickets for the Yunus event can be reserved in advance by calling Heather Montana at 617-627-4230, while seating for the discussion with Brian Williams will be on a first come, first served basis, according to a Tufts University press release. Dubbed the "Father of Microcredit," the Nobel Laureate Yunus will speak at Cohen Auditorium at 4 p.m. Friday in a lecture called "Social Business Can Address Pressing Social Problems." NBC Nightly News Anchor will talk elections, politics at Edward R. Murrow Forum.

The following was provided by Tufts University's Public Relations Office: "NBC Nightly News" anchor and managing editor Brian Williams will discuss political and election news coverage at the seventh annual Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism at Tufts University on Monday, April 23, at 12 p.m. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the on Tufts University's Medford/Somerville campus.  Williams has become the most highly decorated evening news anchor of the modern era and is seen by more U.S. television viewers on a daily basis than any other individual.
