The NBC news anchor spoke Monday at Tufts University's Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism.
In the age of Super PACs, the roll of the media as "watch dog" over political advertising will become even more important, Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, told an audience at Tufts University Monday. Williams, speaking at the Seventh Annual Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism, also talked about the upcoming presidential election, the state of network news, his reputation as a funny guy and his daughter, Allison Williams, who's making a name for herself as an actress on HBO and elsewhere. Tufts University will host two significant speakers in coming days, first economist Muhammad Yunus on Friday, then NBC News Anchor Brian Williams on Monday. Both lectures are free and open to the public; tickets for the Yunus event can be reserved in advance by calling Heather Montana at 617-627-4230, while seating for the discussion with Brian Williams will be on a first come, first served basis, according to a Tufts University press release.
