UPDATE: Suspects in Craigslist Apartment Scam Identified, Warrants Issued

A man and woman who conned would-be renters out of thousands are being sought by police.

Warrants have been issued for a mother and son who allegedly conned would-be renters out of thousands of dollars by posing as landlords and collecting security deposit checks. Dorothy Ingemi, 51, and Nicholas Matthews, 21, are now wanted for multiple counts of felony-level larceny, according to a press release issued by Medford Police Friday afternoon. Four separate complaints have been filed with the Medford police department by people who, after responding to an ad on Craigslist, thought they had made an agreement to rent the basement in-law apartment at 25 Fountain St., police said.
