On the article How Can Medford Square Be Improved?

I hear you. Some moves have been made in the music direction: Salvatore's periodically has live entertainment and so does Bestseller's Cafe. Let's not forget ice cream at Colleen's. Agreed that more needs to happen: hopefully solving the parking issue will help.

ReplyAgreed that lack of parking spaces is the most predominant problem. Didn't realize the 1 and 2 hour limits weren't being enforced. Perhaps if they started enforcing the parking limits, then they could assess whether we need more spaces (my hunch is, we do). I also feel that this parking situation is deterring more businesses from coming to the Square - why come if your prospective patrons can't park? That all being said, the relatively recent new businesses: Salvatore's, the re-opening of the Bestseller's Cafe, Carroll's and Tenoch are welcome additions to the Square.

ReplyIsn't this the same person who, a few months back, complained about the environmental impact of the Green Line extension?

On the article Medford to Re-Examine Winter Parking Ban

ReplyTotally agree that the winter parking rules make absolutely no sense when there is not a speck of snow on the ground. Following snow emergency rules sounds like a good beginning of a common sense discussion on this issue.

On the article How Will Sale of Shaw's & Star Market Change Our Local Grocery Stores?

ReplyNope. Don't shop at either. I prefer the Market Basket in Chelsea. It will be interesting to see how the Shaw's/Star saga unfolds.

Rather than looking at Walmart as the ONLY choice for new jobs and revenue, let's consider additional options for achieving that plus giving the Meadow Glen Mall site a much-needed face-lift. A huge new Walmart (2-stories, I believe) is slated to appear on route 1 in Saugus, so if you like Walmart shopping, that will be our new closest location. Affordable shopping is already available near Meadow Glen Mall at Kmart in Assembly Square and Target at Gateway. Why not explore something like adding a bowling alley, movie theater and small business retailers?
