John Warren Fay, Lifelong Medford Resident, Dies at 80

Fay died Thursday, Oct. 31.

John Warren Fay, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved husband of the late Barbara (Hughes) Fay, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. He was 80 years old.

Born in Medford on June 14, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late John and Margaret (Cassidy) Fay. John was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1951. Entering the Army, John served during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Fay Transportation in Peabody for many years. In his spare time, Mr. Fay enjoyed gardening and cooking at his home. He also loved his boat., listening to old music, reading and horses. John was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

John will be very sorely missed by his loving children; Nancy A. Fay of Woburn and John J. Fay of Medford, grandson; Ricky Parrino of Medford, sister; Lorraine Leete of Sandwich and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Brendan Fay.

His funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford, Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 8 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
