Josephine J. Drago, Longtime Medford Resident, Seamstress, Dies at 88

Drago died Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Josephine J. Drago, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.

She was born in Chelsea on Oct. 17, 1925, to her parents Gaetano and Jennie Pietropaolo. Josephine has been a resident of Medford since 1943. For many years, she worked in the garment industry as a seamstress. Later in life, she worked as a claims representative for Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

Josephine enjoyed vacations to New Hampshire with her family. She was an avid bingo player and card player. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her faithful companion “Ellie.” She is survived by her sons: Joseph G. Drago of Sanbornton, N.H., John I. Drago of Arizona and Frederick E. Drago and his wife Kathleen of Stoneham; and by her sisters: Rose Leone of Medford, Jennie Citro of Burlington and Mary Welch of Chelsea. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Emilio F. Drago, and by her sister Grace Fobert.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 8 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 9 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 1, from 4-8 p.m.
