Attempted Armed Robbery Near Tufts

The incident occurred Wednesday evening.

Medford police responded to an attempted armed robbery at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the corner of Chester Avenue and Brookings Street, according to a Tufts police safety alert.

A Medford resident was approached by a man brandishing a pocket knife who demanded whatever was in the resident’s pockets, according to the alert. The resident then pushed the suspect to the ground and took off on his bicycle. The resident was not injured.

Suspect’s description: 20-something white male, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches, medium build, brown hair, short facial hair, gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
